Olympics and Acting
Olympics and acting. An obvious difference in physicality, but THESE are the similarities that draw so many athletes to the big screen.

They’re kind of the same thing, right?
Olympics and acting. In every field of work, there are those who manage to reach the pinnacle and become icons. In the worlds of both Olympic athletes and actors, these people are looked up to as examples of what is possible if one dedicates themselves to their craft. While their careers may appear very different on the surface, looking a little closer reveals that there are actually many similarities between the two.
You might be wondering what athletes and actors have in common. First of all, both athletes and actors need to manage expectations. When an athlete steps onto the field or the court, they know that they are not going to win every game.
However, Olympic athletes also know that if they put in the hard work and dedicate their focus and attention to something, the possibilities are endless.
Additionally, there are a lot of things we can learn from how Olympic athletes train for their sport to how actors train for their roles.
For example, they both have a certain mindset and they focus on developing skill sets to help them succeed in their respective fields.
What would happen if YOU were to take a page out of their books, focus on your training, and develop your skillset?
In this episode of Always Acting Up podcast, Olympic gymnast Danell Leyva and I explore the similarities between training for the Olympics and your acting career.
