3 Reason’s Why You Should Be Making YouTube Videos

There are so many reasons why creating relevant content is important. We have seen time after time people with large followings are getting huge opportunities. I mean HUGE!

Money

Jobs

Access

Here are 3 reasons why creating online content is important.

  1. Sponsorship- It’s an extremely easy way for companies to promote and market their brand/product directly to their target audience. For them, paying a couple thousand dollars for an influencer to talk about their product is worth the return of investments (ROI). What I’m saying here is, money in your pockets!
  2. Exposure. You get YOUR face/brand seen by a lot of people. No more waiting around for the job of your dreams to fall into your lap. You have the chance to tell the world who you are and what you are capable of.
  3. Trust. Having an online presence allows your future customer, director, producer to get a feel of who you are, your personality and professionalism, if they want to work with you, and if a collaboration or purchase may be in the future.

What Do YOU Like To Watch On YouTube?

Can you talk about XYZ all day long? Do you have any passions? Are you an EXPERT in a particular field?

I admit that when I first started Always Acting Up Podcast, that was worried I was going to run out of ideas to talk about. In fact, its been the complete opposite. Once, I have an idea, I am then able to break it down even further and I end up with several new ideas.

Trust me, creativity sparks creativity and if you chose to create videos on topics your passionate about, you’ll always have something to talk about.

If you like watching a particular type of video blog, DIY video or tutorial, it may be a great idea for your first YouTube video, since you are already familiar with the format of the show. Don’t be worried that you don’t have a PHD or 10 years of experience under your belt, I can assure you that there are people of all levels interested in learning from someone just like them.

YouTube Trends

Do you watch a lot of YouTube videos? Notice any trends? Are there any particular videos styles that seem to follow a certain formula?

YouTube videos use to be a lot of comedic sketches until tutorial videos blew up. Now, “how to” videos, crafting videos, vlogging videos, prank videos, seem to dominate the game. If you can imagine it, it’s likely on YouTube.

For example, have you ever heard anyone say they learned something from “YouTube University“? Exactly! It’s how I learned photoshop!

BONUS, there’s no better way to grow a following than to jump on the trends. If you can jump on a trend on the way up, you have a much higher chance of getting your YouTube video seen before it gets lost in the shuffle.

*How to Find Out What’s Popular on YouTube*

Yeah Yeah, look at the view count, that will let us know what’s most popular. Yes, but I have another pro tip for you.

I had the opportunity to interview actor Kurt Yue on Always Acting Up Podcast and he dropped some serious gems on how to achieve YouTube success! 24:19

Long story short on how to find what type of YouTube videos to make:

  • Find your favorite YouTuber and go to their YouTube channel.
  • Select the videos tab in between HOME and PLAYLIST.
  • On the right, you will see a tab that says “SORT BY”. Click that and a dropdown menu will appear.
  • Click, most popular. Then, voila! THOSE are the types of videos people are interested and want to watch.

Don’t copy, but make your own version from your perspective.

ACTORS-If you liked those steps, make sure to head over to Kurt Yue’s YouTube channel, Acting Career Center, where you can learn audition tips, how the casting process works, dialects, and so much more!

Conclusion- What Type of YouTube Videos You Should Make

Everybody wants to be on social media, these days and it is incredibly important. I also should note that it can be quite time consuming, so before you begin your journey to creating content for YouTube, make sure that you will be able to commit to a somewhat consistent schedule. Once a week, twice a month or even once a month is ok, just make sure you are committed and keep going!

With that being said, make sure it is something you enjoy as well. Make the videos YOU like, what others may like, and try your best to stay on top of the trends! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
