One last cookie and I’ll start my fitness plan tomorrow, ha! Honestly, who hasn’t said that at least a dozen times?
Why is it so hard to motivate and convince your brain to get your body moving? We want to, but somehow the idea of fitness becomes a drag. How can we change our mindsets to make it a little easier and a part of our day?
As someone who is often in front of the camera, fitness and exercise is incredibly important to me. Not just aesthetically, but being on set ALL day, can be physically challenging as well.
I want to share with you 2 of the EASIEST steps to find a little bit of motivation for your fitness journey.

Why is Fitness Important?
Yeah yeah, “you just stay in shape because its part of your job”. Eye roll. Well, yes, that is partially true, but there are many more reasons other than fitness aesthetics.
I struggle with back issues, and I have noticed that when I don’t workout, that’s when my body starts to hurt, a lot. By sticking to a fitness plan, my muscles stay strong and flexible. I’m not saying work out every day, but a few times a week is plenty.
When I am on set, standing on my mark (often time’s in heels, ladies, you know what I’m talking about), walking back and forth to crafty (lol, yup) it’s a lot of pounding on often hard surfaces. It’s important to keep my body in shape so I can handle those long days movie making.
🙂
Fitness TIP:
Try not to take more than 2 days off. Once I allow myself that 3rd day, then I allow myself the 4th day, 5th day and so on.
Listen to your body. If you’re feeling absolutely exhausted, take the day off or maybe only go out for a nice walk.
I got rid of my gym membership a few years ago because I found that not only was it time consuming, I realized I was spending a majority of the time playing on my phone. Yikes!
Thankfully, there are PLENTY of at home workouts and lesson plans. As an example, check out Home Workouts by Fit Tiff to get you started. She has plenty of workouts to choose from and it does not require a huge space or equipment.
Leave a comment on her page and tell her I sent you 🙂
Why Mindset is Important.
Physical fitness is so important not only for your body, but for your mind! After all, fitness and mindset are the topics today.
Half the game of working out is mental, especially if you’re one of those people who don’t consider yourself very athletic, or if you would rather spend your time doing other activities, or if you’re just straight up tired. Changing your mindset and priorities will help you navigate your fitness goals a little easier.
It’s ok to take breaks and it’s ok to workout daily. Just make sure there is a healthy balance
Speaking of your minds, fitness is really great for your brain! Working out is a natural mood lifter and it helps to promote a more positive mindset and attitude. Heart.org has some really great information if you’d like to learn more.

Step 1 of Achieving a Fitness Mindset- Psych Yourself Out
Recently, I had the opportunity to chat with actor, Walter “Kobra” Rivero, on my podcast, Always Acting Up, about his latest feature film and staying in shape during filming.
Actually, this sort of sparked the idea of this blog. How in the world does one work a 9-5, film AND find time to go to the gym. Look, we’re not saying it is easy by any means, but it is possible, especially if you put your mind to it and in this case, PSYCH yourself out!
For Walter, knowing that he was going to be on camera was helpful, but also plastering motivational fitness quotes around the room and posters of fit superheroes helped. Oh, and kickboxing! Lots of kickboxing!
It doesn’t hurt (or does it?) when your trainer is Charlie Campbell, aka Charlie the Cannibal aka professional fighter! He’s sure to keep you on your toes.
Whatever you have to do to get your fitness mindset in the game do it!
Just don’t go overboard here. I want you to have a healthy relationship with fitness!
Step 2 of a Fitness Mindset: Find Physical Job
Ok, this one may seem like a no brainer here, but I find it quite brilliant. Why not kill two birds with one stone, that way, when you get off work you’ve already gotten in your steps for the day. Or if you wanted to add a little more, it’s a much lighter load than starting from scratch. Oh, and it also saves you a lot of time.
Those of us who have worked as waiters, valet, yoga instructors, etc. KNOW how physical work can be. You’re running back and forth, constantly moving, sometimes sweating. Ha.
While I personally like the idea of multitasking, I have to admit that it does have it’s pros and cons.
Did you catch this blog post were I listed some of my favorite ways to make and save money, at home?
The give and take of fitness for work
Pros
- Saves time
- Consistent physical movement so you don’t have to think about it
- You can avoid rush hour at the gym
- Fitness creates more energy…for more fitness…. only if you want to
Cons
- If you did want to get a hard sesh in the gym, you may not have the energy
- Possible risk of injury
- May not get the rest breaks in that YOU need
Fitness Mindset Conclusion
Our mind is the most powerful tool, especially when it comes to fitness. When we’re tired, we need to find ways to motivate ourselves to workout. When we workout, we have a more positive mindset. Wabam!
Although, working out isn’t always the easiest task, finding ways to motivate ourselves with movie posters, quotes, or an accountability partner may be the trick for you.
The most important part, find balance and make sure to do what’s best for you.
